BitMart Futures | Introduction to One-Way Position Mode

BitMart Futures Now Supports “One-Way Mode” in Addition to “Hedge Mode”.

To offer a more flexible trading experience, BitMart Futures now supports One-Way Mode in addition to the existing Hedge Mode. You can now select your preferred position mode based on your trading habits.

1. What is One-Way Mode?

  • In One-Way Mode, you can hold only one position direction (either long or short) for each trading pair.
  • In contrast, Hedge Mode allows you to simultaneously hold both long and short positions for the same contract.

Example:

If you hold a short BTC position in One-Way Mode and want to go long, you’ll need to close the short position first. In Hedge Mode, you can open a long position directly without closing the short.

2. Why Use One-Way Mode?

Simplified trading experience

  • Similar to spot trading or traditional markets (stocks, forex), it's easier to understand and operate.

Easier position management

  • Manage just one position per contract - no need to juggle both long and short sides.

3. Who Is It For?

Futures beginners

  • Since the One-Way Mode aligns with the position model used in traditional financial trading platforms and is similar to spot trading operations (only involving buy and sell actions), it is easier for new users to get started with futures trading using this mode.

API and strategy traders

  • The One-Way Mode requires lower capital usage. Moreover, as it resembles spot trading operations, users can directly migrate their spot trading strategies to futures trading.

Copy trading users

  • Traders only need to focus on either long or short entries, simplifying decision-making. Followers can replicate trades without tracking the trader’s current position.

5. How to Switch Position Mode

By default, BitMart Futures uses Hedge Mode.

To switch to One-Way Mode, go to the Futures trading page, tap the “...” in the top right corner, open Preferences, and switch under Position Mode.

Note: You cannot change modes if you have open positions or active orders. The setting applies to all USDT- and coin-margined contracts.
